Just a last 2015 word. Today is the last Staying Connected for 2015. It could be the last altogether depending upon a recommendation that I will make to Annual Conference 2015—for a better “Ebcosa voice.”  We again the mourn the passing of a “foundation” Ebcosa loved one, namely, Mrs Pilot of our Bosmont church. May her soul rest in peace and may her family cherish her memory with gratitude of so great a mother. On the side of staying connected here are some things to savour with thanksgiving to Almighty to God, or to think about:

1.    The roof and windows of Ebcosa Pescodia’s new worship wing have been installed. Also, God, through the anonymous donor of their first R95,100 has given them another gift of the same amount. If ever there is a miracle in Ebcosa it is that of Pescoda—a very small congregation that has done wonders because they are a praying people and one of our most united churches, and a donor who is miraculously used of Almighty God in Ebcosa.

2.    At Ebcosa Port Elizabeth Church (Booysens Park and Schauderville) they have been studying the Second Coming of Christ in their evening services (see below). Pastor Oliveria taught the notes of Dr. Matham who shared on God’s future plan for Israel and the church (25 th October both Morning and Evening services). They looked at how Ebcosa’s dispensational approach to the Bible helps us understand Bible prophesy. They had an average of 35 believers   attending the Sunday evening sessions.  The prayer of Pastor Oliveria is that their understanding of the imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ would help them live lives of expectancy, and move them into effective, urgent, personal evangelism. When they studied the Great Tribulation it saddened their hearts that their unsaved loved ones would not miss the Tribulation with them. They teach the Bible, not just for the sake of information, but their prayer is that lives will be transformed by the power of God’s Word. Subjects covered in the eight weeks included a summary of the seven churches in Revelation, the Rapture, the dispensational view and how it helps to understand the end times (by Dr.Matham), the Tribulation and the Millenium and the challenge for aggressive evangelism. Check the blog of Pastor Oliveria: http://www.ebcosape.co.za/Pastor-s-Blog/

3.    Woodlands Ebcosa started a “Wisdom Walk Bible Reading Challenge” on 1 December.   Young and old are tasked with reading all 150 Psalms and 31 Proverbs, i.e. 5 Psalms and 1 chapter of Proverbs each day during December.  Hopefully all will realise the blessing of dedicated daily Bible reading, and that reading the Bible in one year is doable.   It is nothing new to Ebcosa. Pastor Hill writes: “I am sure! my Pastor encouraged me to do it when I was being discipled.  But this is a collective church effort.  Perhaps all Ebcosa assemblies can do something like this at some point too!”
